Show Notes

In this episode, Sean Fau and Matt Ballek review and discuss three stand-up comedy specials by Geoffrey Asmus, Ali Siddiq, and Mike Vecchione.

Geoffrey Asmus:

We begin with Geoffrey’s latest special, “A Perfect Hour of Standup,” praising his confident and charismatic style. He was considered the clear winner of the episode for his strong writing and high “laughs per minute.”

Ali Siddiq:

Ali Siddiq’s special, “Rugged,” was noted for its slower, storytelling pace and his significant YouTube viewership. The hosts observed a “Cat Williams twang” in his delivery. While acknowledging his charisma and storytelling ability, they felt there was a “lack of jokes” and “no real punchline” in the early sections.

Mike Vecchione:

Mike Vecchione’s special, “Low Income White,” was discussed, with hosts noting his reliance on “character and vibe” and delivery. Jokes about Waffle House and Cracker Barrel, and Starbucks bathrooms were mentioned. They appreciated his “inherent comedic element” and “bridled rage” in his persona, but wished for “a little bit more craftsmanship to the jokery.”

The Verdict:

All three comedians were found to be charismatic and entertaining, with Geoffrey Asmus standing out for his joke writing and consistent laughs.
